"Breaking Ground" a Short Film

A vulnerable teen discovers found family in a group of runaways, but what started as a loving community’s plight for survival quickly spirals into life on the run under the control of a charismatic narcissist.

This animatic was created using the script read through to exemplify the storyboard for "Breaking Ground".

The film is intended to raise awareness of how inadvertently cults can form, and how quickly they can spiral out of control. This short film adaptation was shortened from a more elaborate full length novel i had started writing several years prior.

Prop Designers: Make or Break the Film

The writing can be on point, the acting can be enthralling, the music score can be intense- but if the props are mediocre, the whole film will fall flat.

This was taken into careful consideration when selecting a prop designer for BÖZstudium's newest upcoming short film "Innocent." None other can hold a candle to the real-feel work offered by Creekside Taxidermy. Artists Douglas & Britny De Vaul worked with me every step of the way to ensure this soft-mount fit the bill. The results were impressive, dare I say, faultless. This beautiful mount was custom built from the pelt, eye color, expression, positioning of the mouth and even made edits to every detail as needed. Creekside Taxidermy offers excellent communication and professionalism while maintaining a friendly and down to earth, very approachable rapport. Updates on the order including pictures and timelines were ample, and very helpful as preparations closed in for pre-production. The order arrived well-packaged and in a timely manner, it was immediately clear that I couldn’t have picked a more qualified taxidermist to do business with. In addition to soft and hard mounts, Creekside Taxidermy also offers Freeze Dry, Wet Specimens, and Mummification services.

Thanks to the exquisitely skilled work of Douglas and Britny DeVaul, “Innocent” will blow the audience away with it’s uncanny prop design, and I couldn't be happier to support a small business. You can find Creekside Taxidermy on Ebay, Facebook, Etsy, and Instagram. You can reach them at 614 563 4533.

Time and budget can’t be compromised when it comes to producing a great film. Cutting corners v.s exquisite attention to detail in all components of a story, from writing to visual effects, is the difference between an A or B movie. The quality of a prop is what makes the film believable, and for a scene that calls for a dog's corpse, nothing beats Creekside Taxidermy for it’s realism.

Why Challenge Censorship?

Is something obscene because it made you stop in your tracks? Because it raised an alarm in you? Because it made you uncomfortable?

Or is it obscene because you weren’t ready for it? Because you don’t want to acknowledge it? Because you don’t want to think about the false sense of civility that our reality is filtered through?

What if the entertainment we turn to for escapism was conveniently providing perspective which allows us the knowledge to be prepared?

The Importance of Collaboration in Film & Media

One of the first obstacles I had to overcome as I began to take my screenwriting to the production stage was the importance of collaboration.

Some of us prefer working alone to working in groups. Some of us believe if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself- but some of us know that when it comes to film making, it takes a village.

This opossum (showed above) was created using Blender, a 3-D animation software which I had no prior experience in. The above image is behind the

The "One on One" Project Series

The "One on One" Project was created to provide the viewers with the insight and research that goes into the production of our films and programming. When BOZstudium creates entertainment for you, the process goes like this:

Our writer writes the story the way it's intended, no holds barred. Next, we go out into the world and talk with real people effected by the topics we are writing about in order to fact check and better develop our film and TV entertainment.

We are not Hollywood - we aren't making movies for appearances. We wan't to provide people with entertainment backed by research and consultations with the real human beings we share the world with. This is a recorded consultation with Massachusetts citizen Felicita Felix, as we talk about her personal experiences and compare it with what the characters on the show "The False War" undergo.

Special thanks to Artem Litovchenko for hand crafting this powerful sound score.

In Febuary 2023, I Travled to Europe to Record the Next Episode of "The One on One" Series.

Thank you to the anonymous gentleman who contributed his knowledge so that "The False War" could stay true to the truth as we write Season 3. Outreach spoke with as many people who were willing in order to better understand Russia's military and the perspective of individuals involved.

Still a work in progress, portions from the script and storyboard will be added and some translation still needs to be completed.

I edited together this brief video of a virtual meeting with blender artist Lukas Joehnk as part of a collaborative effort to model one of the sets that will be a part of producing one of my passion projects.  I've undergone a similar process when directing digital artists to help carry some of the workload regarding the illustrations on my character reference sheets.  I've been told that providing my sketches was helpful in understanding the vision.
